I just bought a 2005 subaru legacy GT off of my neighbor for $8600. Car is in awesome shape he always took care of it and is a close family friend so wouldn't screw me over it has around 85k.
The car has
Td05 16g turbo
2.4 Inlet
Aftermarket Inner Cooler
Boost Controller
4" Exhaust off turbo
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Boost Guage on Steering Column
Straight Downpipes
Open Source tuning
Sti Mani
Everything was done professionally from turbotektuning (if you are familiar)
Few Questions I had is what would you recommend I do next? I was thinking the injectors because as far as I know they are still stock. Also, he told me It has not been tuned in awhile and that I should probably tune it down to around 8lbs so I was going to take it to PSIPROformance and get it tuned.

12psi down to 8? I'm no turbo expert by far.. But that doesn't sound quite right for our cars.
Welcome!

I agree. 8psi wtf? If that 16g has a larger then stock wastegate, 8psi wouldn't be possible anyways. Even at 12 psi, that thing has got to be boring to drive. Turn up the boost man!

Sounds like bs to me. Stock boost is around 13.5 psi. I see no point in upgrading turbos and exhaust if you're going to run lower then stock boost.

Welcome and congrats on the new ride. If you have stock injectors, you will most likely not be able to fully utilize the 16G. I would not go down in pressure, but stay right about where you are or maybe a little more depending on the limits of your set up. Luck dog it's even AWP.

A 16g with stock fueling should be able to handle around 18-19psi through the midrange and taper down to 14-15psi up top. Telling him to stay around the 12 psi he's at is pointless to me. If he's gonna stay with low boost he should just sell it and buy an N/A car.

my 16g with stock fueling is at 17.5 psi
so yeah...maybe it's a typo 18 instead of 8?
4" exhaust is HUUUUGGGEEEEE
Next should be suspension mods/good set of tires
With great power, comes/needs great traction.

I dont know if the injectors are stock or aftermarket but I know they are 550cc. and yeah I think tuning it down would be dumb thats just what he told me to do but when I get it tuned I think they are going to tune it up to 16=17psi

Your first priority should be getting a good data log. That way you can check the boost as well as pick up any potential lean conditions, etc.
You'll need a laptop and a Vag-com cable for the data logging. The "Tuning" section is a good place to post the log, and people will be able to look over it.

Welcome to the site!
Was the former owner on this forum? If he was, maybe he had a build thread so you could read through some of the history?
