I am putting on V3 coilovers and going to keep the drop mild. I am looking at the hyper black Rota AVN 18x8.5 with 225/45/18 contis. Question is will an 8.5" wheel work with a 48mm offset on our cars? I see that most use an 8" and wonder if i will be limited in my selection. Thoughts?
Peace,
Dave F.

Running Rota G-Force, 18x9 +35. Running RCE blacks with a mild drop of 20mm.
If you want a drop with the tires inside of the fender, then +35 is too aggressive.

One ultimately runs out of $$$ driftmonkey. I'd pick suspension quality over wheel quality any day. I've had Rotas for 6 yrs with a dropped suspension and have never bent a wheel, but it does depend on where you live and the quality of your roads.

Doesn't it also depend on how you drive?

For wheels? Perhaps if you're a track demon who loves apex curbs or tailgate so you can't see a pothole coming up, perhaps, but otherwise, no.
How would you otherwise see driving style as a factor in wheel longevity?

Like driving over a set of rail road tracks. I've seen people speed right through them. I always slow down.

Being new to scoobs, I am failing to see your point. I have done enough research to say that both should work well together. Rota has a good rep. I live 10 mins from IAG perf ...scoob specialists and after talking to Drew everything looks good to him.
Peace,
Dave F

Nothing protects against stupid. You can bend a nice set of wheels being stupid as you can a cheap set. If that is what you mean by "driving style," then yes, you are correct.

Im gonna agree with David here and not vote with Kerb. Wheels make a big difference if they don't... V3 were a major waste.
Enkei Racing Wheels > Rota any day and RPF1 for example are affordable.

Rutchard runs Racecomp coilovers and Rotas and regularly beats the shit out of his car.
Anyone that really has a clue knows that even expensive wheels can break/bend. I've bent welded 2 piece wheels, some of the strongest stuff out there.
