I cant decide between a perrin heat shield or a grimmspeed heat shield. I have a vf52 with a ptp turbo blanket and am invidia cattless downpipe. What are your guys experience with the two heat shields?

IDK about the Perrin but I have the Grimmspeed shield on mine and think it's a very well made piece.

I've got the GS with the PTP blanket and lined the shield with DEI Reflect-a-Gold®. Love the setup - quite effective. No experience with Perrin but I'm highly impressed with all my Grimmspeed bits.

Is the. Reflect a gold worth getting with the turbo blanket and heat shield?

I am happy I did it. I have the Process West TMIC which moves the core directly over the turbo and has no plastic end tanks so I did it as a preventative measure to avoid heatsoak as much as possible. I have done pulls and put my hand on the heatshield with this setup and it's seriously cooler than just the blanket alone. I haven't done any IR temp reads before/after to give you actual data.

My setup ^ minus the reflect-a-gold though. I may have to invest in some though.

Love the GS heatshield!! Got it for a smoking deal at Wicked Big Meet, too.

I got the DEI on ebay - was like 35 shipped IIRC. Due to the angles of the GS shield I did like 3 different pieces to avoid issue getting it to conform right. I want to say I got like a 12" x 24" and had some to spare.

I just bought and installed the Perrin heatshield recently.

PROS: It is very very well made. It is very heavy compared to the Cobb or factory heatshield. It comes in a powdercoated finish which I like.

CONS: There is very little room for aftermarket oil lines such as the IP&T or FP. (The heatshield comes very close to the actuator bracket) I will eventually need to notch mine out to make room for the oil line before it starts to wear the stainless line. It was clearly designed for the factory oil line arrangement w/o any thought of upgraded oil lines

Love my grimmspeed shield plenty of room for my IP&T line, plenty of room for my Wastegate bracket to hold it shut ( i run EWG) I run the blanket IP&T as well with reflective line on the shield. Love the combo can put my hand flat on the shield after some hard driving and its warm but not flesh scorching.

Get the GrimmSpeed. I had the Perrin for a bit, and it made contact with the transmission. Fitment for the GrimmSpeed is perfect. Take my word for it. I've owned it twice

For future reference these questions should just be a PM to mr_hicksta - he's testing and quality control for most major LGT modification vendors/manufacturers!
