Everytime I start my car (when its been sitting overnight) my idle jumps to 2000+ rpm until I give the throttle a blip.

Is this normal? Any way this can be fixed?

Regards,

JP

Idle should jump on cold starts until the car warms up, or you blip the throttle. Mine does it but it doesnt go to 2000+

2000 is a bit high unless it's -10 C outside, check for the obvious, Vacuum leak somewhere but if it only does it when cold, maybe coolant temp sensor??(shot in the dark). Is you car tuned? the table may be set too high. A tuner can easily adjust this, make sure all is well with the sensors and such. Mine is set for 1500 cold.

This. The ECU has a table for target idle speed, based on coolant temp. Mine doesn't even drop below 1000 until the coolant temp is 176*F.

Happens only if the car is cold. Air temp goes no lower that 0C over winter and is currently 8-14C first this in the morning when I start it.

Idle drops below 2000 when in D, then settles to about 800rpm when I blip the throttle.

Car is not tuned yet, but has been doing this ever since my last oil change - think they used 10w-40 or 15w-40
