I am new in this forum and from the other continent (Europe). Could find any help in local forums, so will give it a try here...
In spring i bought a car after an accident (08 legacy gt 5EAT). After fixing it up i had check engine light which referred to O2 sensor problems. Along with this I noticed a stutter when accelerating hard. 1 st gear was ok, but 2nd gear would go up to 5500 rpm and then start to stutter, it just wouldn't pass that mark. Changing to 3rd - no good, just no power. I thought - ok, it must be those safe mods, etc due to engine check. However, after changing o2 sensor nothing really changed (except check engine light has gone off). Still that massive stutter:
I have done some job on this:
1. checked turbo, it works well (boosts about 0,9 bar and the same is at the stuttering moment)
2. changed glow plugs (noting changed at all);
3. got live ecu check, the it guy said everything looks good from the ecu point of view. We noticed the stuttering would appear earlier (4900 rpm) when turbo boosted to 1,3 bar and was easier when it boosted only 0,5 bar.
4.checked coolant for CO2 traces (in case of head gasket failure) - negative.
Sometimes I get all cylinders misfire (with new glow plugs). My car has only 35000 miles, so it cant be ALL the coil packs failing. One day after hard driving i took out all glow plugs for inspection and they were all pretty black (like going rich). The only thing that come to my mind after all this is that something might be wrong with the wiring and just not enough power is coming to the coil packs, as a result of this the glow plugs do not fire the petrol ant the highest power moments. In other words, the problem is most obvious when turbo boosts its maximum.
Please tell me your ideas if you have any.
I don't know it it matter but the car stayed for about a year unused (damaged).
p.s. if anybody has a free carfax report please let me know (maybe some traces of this problem can be found there). vIN 4S3BL676684205470
