I have a 2011 Legacy with 86k miles on it, bought new that has never been involved in an accident. I drive 4 miles a day on gravel roads. The interior gets incredibly dusty very fast. When under warranty it went back to the dealer a couple of times. They checked door seals, looked over the car, replaced the cabin filter etc. None of this helped. Driving down the gravel road the interior gets a cloud inside, it's a safety hazard too. The engine bay is cleaner than the interior because of all this dust. It's just amazing and unacceptable.
Recently I had the trunk release fail due to dust and dirt on the inside. The inside trunk just gets covered in it. Below is a photo. I left a notebook inside for 40 days. There are 1-2mm of dust covering everything.
This is not normal. I can't find anyone with similar problems. Reading online I have found some people talking about flow-through ventilation system, with flapper valves at the rear end of the cabin. These valves let air out and are supposed to prevent dust entry, but if they don’t work freely they’ll let dust in – lots of it. Does the Legacy have something like this?
Any ideas on where this could be coming from?
Dealers suggestion this morning was "Sell it and buy a new one" Really? Thats just not an acceptable offer.
Bottled Water spilled, there was so much dust on the seats it stained it/turned to mud. This is dry. It will come out just have not done it yet.
