I'm continuing the inspection of my 'new' 05 LGT and there's one further area of concern. It appears that the oil return pipe from turbo is heavily 'soiled':
The front-right drive shaft is out of the vehicle as a CV boot was torn and this might be the cause of the mess, however whilst I have a little more access to the area I'd like to check it out.
I removed the down pipe (and cat as DP-cat bolts were rounded off
) and intercooler. Although I removed the up-pipe bolts and oil/coolant lines I was unable to remove turbo, it would move a little but I couldn't see what was holding it in. Does the intake header need to come off as well?
How does the oil return detach from the turbo? Is it just with this spring clip on the pipe?
The nuts on the exhaust header heat shield are completely
rusted so getting the up-pipe out will be a pain.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
PS. I did replace the CV boot and left LCA so yesterday wasn't completely about tearing the car apart (even more)...
