Hello,

I've got a weird noise coming from the rear of my car, under any sort of acceleration, but most noticeable in the 1st to 2nd shift. The sound is linked to me pushing in the clutch to shift, which I think relates to the car suspension moving as the engine load changes. These cars are kinda famous for saggy butts, and I'm wondering if this is part of my problem.

I read through a large amount of posts in this thread http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...-ii-48567.html

I couldn't find a sound clip or example of that sound though, so I'm unsure if its related to my sound.

It's a sort of mechanical growl from the rear, right above the rear wheels if I could pinpoint it. I've only noticed it recently, these past few days have been the coldest yet. I'm wondering if anyone else has this sound, and if there is a solution to it? The thread i linked did not seem to have a conclusive solution, but once again, not sure if my sound is their sound! Most of them seem to have problems under hard acceleration, mine is under any acceleration at all.

I'll post a sound clip tomorrow night, see if someone can match my sound.

Thanks

No video tonight from me, tomorrow I will though.

I have figured out that if I shift before 2K RPMS, the sound won't happen. So very slow acceleration doesn't trigger it. It's also directly linked to the clutch going on and the car moving as power is disconnected from the drive train.

Got a great video of the sound, but now its coming up at idle. Isn't at every stop, maybe 1 out of every 3.

The video was shot under the drivers side rear exhaust, I put my phone down near the y pipes.

Also made a video of the in-car sound while shifting and acceleration, but you can't really hear anything.

It almost sounds like the exhaust is rattling against something. Try grabbing the exhaust with a rag, or something else to protect your hand, and see if the sound changes or you can feel a vibration. If the exhaust is rattling against something you should be able to see it pretty easily if you can get underneath the car. Could also be a bad muffler. I've heard mufflers make a similar noise when the baffles inside go bad. GL

Got it looked at today, was a cracked weld going into the resonator. Think I hit a bump that cracked it or something.

Got it welded for free, sound gone. Happy man.
