Hello,
I recently acquired a 2007 Legacy sedan. It has a manual front passenger seat. The previous owner spilled motor oil on the seat and it has seeped into the foam. Although I have cleaned it with a professional rug cleaner (hot water and steam), there is still oil coming out of the foam. I have made about 100 phone calls to salvage yards all over the country and I can not find a matching seat. I phoned an auto upholsterer and they said that they would probably cut out the oil saturated foam, replace the piece of foam, clean the upholstery and re install it. Since I am an upholsterer (avocation) I am sure I can do the work. Nonetheless, I have removed the bolts from the seat and it is free but all the sensor wires are still connected. Is there an easy way to disconnect them or am I going to have to do the work to the seat while it is still in the car, (without disconnecting the wires?)

To be safe, you want to disconnect the batter if you remove the seats, as the seats have airbags integrated.

Check out this thread on how to remove the seats. It walks through installing heated seats but also walks through removing seat and skin.
