Hello all-

So I started my car up the other day to a very unwelcoming sound. It sounded like the engine was missing on one cylinder but I only had a pending #3 misfire code, but it hadn't resolved to a full check engine light code. We went through and replaced the coil pack on that cylinder, after about 5 minutes it started running fine. Thought all was good.

I drove it the next day with no troubles. The day after that same issue came back while driving, and this time threw the full on check engine light with a #3 misfire code. Low power at low RPM, but when I would take it up to around 5K it would smooth out and stay fine for anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour.

The next day I took it to a Subaru dealership to have it checked out. They went through all they could and got down to Low PSI on the #3. Around 80PSI.

So now I am thinking cracked ring, piston....

The only thing I am confused about is why it was intermittent in the first place.

Has anyone else dealt with this?, and if so what was your resolution, and any recommendations on where to take it to.

Thanks

If you only have 80psi in one and the others are 150 or so, it is rebuild time it sounds like.
