I have a 2010 3.6R. My wife is the usual driver and adjusts the power seat all the way forward. When I try to back up the seat, the front/back function of the switch doesn't work until I move the seat up or down, or tilt. Anybody else have a problem with the seat adjustment switch?

My wife does the same thing but not ALL THE WAY FORWARD. I have no issues moving it right back without any up, down or tilt.

Will try all the way forward tonight and let you know if I experience your issue.

My girlfriend does the same thing. Why didn't Subaru put in the damn memory switch? Anyway, I don't have the issue you're describing. Maybe your pressing the switch on a weird angle?

I'd have to agree that a 2 position memory switch for the seat/mirrors would be really nice.

My parents bought a Freestyle after riding in my Five Hundred for a couple summers and got the Limited with the 2 position switch and I didn't think much of it until I drove the car and I have to admit it is a really nice feature.

My wife does the same thing and my 05 has this same problem. Its getting worse and it got all the way forward and it wouldnt go back. Had to **** with it for like 30 mins before it moved backwards. Im gonna tear it out this weekend and see if there is a fix to it or if it needs replaced.

Sent from my phone. Who cares what it is. They all do it now-a-days.

Ok well the seat got completely stuck forward this morning. I couldnt get it to go back at all. So I ended up having to drive to and from work today with my knees in the dash. I refuse to do that again tomorrow and wait til Saturday to fix it so I went ahead and fixed it today.

There is a fix, however it sucks and is NOT for the feint of heart.

I got it all the way torn down and found that the contacts for the switches looked like there had been a LOT of arcing going on in there and there was black dust all over the contacts. I cleaned them by scraping it all off with a pick tool and put it all back together which was the hard part. It took me about 30-45 minutes to get everything all back together. The springs and detent balls in the switch were so hard to keep in the right spots while the switch cover was being put back on.

I would have taken pictures but just wasnt in the mood with all the curse words flying out of my mouth! I can draw it up on paper and scan it if anyone needs it and would like to attempt this themselves.

Its a pain in the butt, but you dont have to shell money out of your pocket to fix this.

I posted several days ago re my passenger side seat switch not allowing the seat to go forward only back. dealer is ordering a new switch and will call me when in to set up an appointment. The powered passenger seat on my 2010 limited only goes forward and back. I hope my drivers seat stays working!!

I had the same problem. The seat would adjust in every direction except front to back. I just pulled the cover plate on the side of the seat. It's held in place with pop rivits. I disconnected the plug from the switch assembly and sprayed some electrical contact cleaner in both the male and female ends. Snapped it back together and all works well now. Hope this helps.
