Hey Guys,

new here. yes, i'm a 2.5i owner- i'll put that out there-

anyway, just got the car this week and decided very quickly that i wasn't a fan of the chrome. so, with a little motivation, some help form a friend, and some good words of advice from members of this forum, I decided to go ahead with blacking out my grill and debadging today. Photos attached.

To note: I went with the "plastidip" rubberized coating rather than a duplicolor flat black. I really like the look of the stuff. Check it out here:
http://www.plastidip.com/ (no affliation, just sayin.)

We goofed around a little while the paint dried and debadge the thing as well. i decided to use the plastidip on the "subaru" badge, still drying tho so I'll post pix of it mounted in an edit later on.

Next up for January:
-Headlight Clearing and Blackout
-25% tint
-chrome strip on tails blackout.
and this thing looks sweet: http://bit.ly/gLYKMn

Eventually I'll be lowering and looking at wheels (black too, duh), but lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

Thanks for reading!

Tim

Nice but why remove the chrome inserts from the grill? Also why remove the emblems??? No need to bro! Thats the benefit of plastidip, it is easy removable. Gonna do the same to my LGT.

Cool.

Plastidip is fun since you don't need to mask anything. It just peels off where you don't want it.

Just recently did my grill and wheels.

Wheels needed it due to this curb rash.

You could have used JB weld to fill in the scratches, sand it down, and then paint.

Yeah, I thought about that later. I guess I had hoped that it'd be thick enough to fill it in.

I blacked out the grill on my OBXT and I like it a lot. It's pretty subtle but just a little... meaner. I keep wanting to do the badges but I haven't figured out the best way to mask them yet. When I do badges I have trouble getting the plastidip off the paint while leaving it on the emblem.

I took all the chrome off and cut out the wings and added mesh to my grill. Like the chromeless look
