different trans, different years, different wiring harness, they will not swap!!!

which do you need a TZ102Z.... (these are 95 - 98) or a TZ103Z... ?

what car are you working with?

the TZ102ZAAAA trans can be swapped with any ej22 (2.2L) auto trans 95 - 98, from a legacy, L, Brighton, or impreza (lower end cars.) you can not use a trans from a ej25 engine car, outback, GT, LSi, forester, or WRX.

there will be lots to choose from, www.car-part.com . you will have to search each year individually.

The TZ102 is in a 95 legacy and the TZ103 is in a 98 forester.

ok, i was a little bit wrong and a little bit right.
i thought it was from the 00 - 04 model years. those are different and will not swap.

but the forester, 96 - 99, has a 4.44 final drive ratio which is different than the 95 legacy, 4.11 final drive ratio.
so the trans will bolt in, plug in and run, but you would need to swap in the matching rear diff to make it work correctly.

you can us any trans 95 - 98 that starts with TZ102Z... where the next character is a LETTER.
you can not us a trans that starts with TZ102Z2....... this indicates a 4.44 ratio . and these are found in the outbacks and GTs.

if you use the forester trans and rear diff:

the speedo will be off since the tires are a different size than the forester tires.

you can install GT (97) size tires with no headaches, but forester or outback size will not fit.

the car will be sportier, ''quicker'', than before. and slightly less fuel efficient due to the more powerful ratio and the smaller wheels.

swap in the forester struts and wheels and all will be good. back to normal. outback rear struts would be slightly taller and prevent a ''saggy'' rear look.

good luck.

Yes they are the same length, assuming you are talking about the trans case. No need for a custom driveshaft
