Two summers ago, I made a camera mount for an HPDE to record some in-car video, then I revamped the design and had 10 of them made with the intent to sell them. Well my real job has been keeping me too busy, so I'm selling them off.
Design:
- Lightweight: Less than 14 oz. (lightest mount of it's kind)
- Constructed from 6061 aluminum and carbon fiber
- Optimized with FEA
- Mounts on front or rear headrest posts (driver and passenger)
- Rearward offset design for better safety and vantage point
- Camera mounting screw set 6 inches back from headrest
- Fits on BMW "Vader" seats
- Safety strap for secure mounting
I'm asking $140

Thanks! And Yes, it is a 1/4-20 thread, which is standard on most all cameras.

Yes, I recommend a wide angle lens. See the screenshot below for the view of my camera mount in a BMW 330i at a Mid-Ohio driving school. You can see the gauges. He wasn’t using a wide angle lens however. Another driver in a BMW E36 M3 had one mounted on his rear headrest posts and posted a YouTube video, I just need to track that video down.

I believe it is safer due to the solid mounting and the fact that it does not obstruct your view of the track.

If they are cylindrical and measure approx 12 mm (1/2") in diameter, it is ideal. It has fit on every car it has been tried on. If unsure, you can send me a picture, or measure it to confirm.

I've been a little busy, but here is a video from a satisfied buyer. He did a driving event at Lime Rock and the camera held steady.
