So I get like a whistle at 3500 to 5000 under harder acceleration. It sounds like it is coming from the air induction. Is this normal. I just got it.

can you give more information about your car? model, year, mileage, transmission, other problems that the car has been giving you, or other repairs you completed previously

2.5gt 2004 64xxx 4eat no problems and it almost sounds like its a bov in neutral and it consistent. Someone I knw has a 96 outback and said it normal and it's a brv valve?!

Ah, ah, don't worry about it. I've had the same problem for over 7 years and it's located inside the muffler. There are perforated pipes and some of the holes must be stuck creating the sound of a flute or even a turbo (Without the acceleration that goes with a turbocharge engine however )

Make the test, put the transmission on neutral, slam the gas pedal and you should hear it from the muffler itself.
