I about to ask a question I pritty much already know the answer to but.
What are the odds of a 275/40/17 tire fitting a legacy? I'm figuring never.
Widest I've read about is 265.
I only ask because I have a set of tires off my old car that only have bout 1500 miles on them.
245/45/17 fronts, and 275/40/17 Rears.
The overall diameter is the same its the with.
Is have to roll some serious fender I think.

Not getting into the fitment issue, but wanted to say this:
If you want to blow up your center diff by all means run different fronts/rears.
It's also waaaaaaaaaay off from stock size.

Diameters are NOT the same. You have a difference of 6 rotations per km front to rear. The center diff will not like absorbing that, but it's your car.

245/40/17 is about the same as stock, 275/40/17 is a lot taller...

Yeah I know they are not going to work.
It's just that I just spent about 1k on them in October.
I'm Gona sell the rears and get the same size for the rear.

245/45 is still a good amount taller considering 215/45 is stock....
And don't even think about putting it on your stock rims.

The Legacy should not have super big / wide tires shoved under it. 245 tires and/or 8.5" wheels are pretty much max.
Leave that to the WRX and STi folks with the wider fender flares.
