The car has been taking about 6 cranks to cold start for the past month or two. At first I chalked it up to e85 and didn't put any additional thought into it.

Fast forward to the last couple of days... its finally dipping in temperature here and on a couple of cold mornings the car has started, stumbled, and died about 6 times before it will start and idle. Once it does finally start, all is well: idle is normal and the car is boosting and making power just fine. For warm starts, the car starts fine in just a 2-3 cranks on the first try.

Fast forward to yesterday - now I'm thinking wow E85 sucks in cold weather and I do some forum searching. After reading a few threads I decided this morning to turn the car to the on position for a few seconds before starting it. It worked much better, started on first attempt although still a few more cranks than is typical with 93.

tl;dr - I'm thinking FPR or fuel pump orings may be causing fuel pressure loss overnight resulting in difficult cold starts.

Its the E85. But I have no personal experience with bad FPRs or cold starting issues (even on E85). The coldest it gets in my garage is 50ish degrees.

IKR?

it was about 55F on the mornings/evenings that the 6 attempted starts happened. I couldn't imagine that being cold enough to cause E85 to disagree with my starter motor.

It takes about 30 degrees overnight and into the morning for my car to have starting issues on e85. It's been about 35-40 the past few nights and it takes a second or two longer to crack, but still starts with no running issues.

It could be the tune needs a little tweaking (I didn't need to adjust any enrichment tables when I switched), maybe ask your tuner.

I always turn the key and wait for the sweeps - it usually starts about the same as on pump. When it is below 40ish - it needs an extra crank or 2.

IMO - if your AFR is good at WOT and the only issue is a few extra cranks on cool days. I would not sweat it.

Your tune could be the problem but I've had this weird priming issue since installing a walbro. I'm not on E85 but my walbro just doesn't seem to like to hold pressure. My O-Ring was leaking at one point and the cranking got really bad but even on the o-ring recommended by msprank, it still does it to a certain extent(new walbro and oring). *shrugs*

btw I even bought a new OEM FPR, it made no difference. I thought my new FPR was bad at one point(trying to figure out weird stuff) and swapped back to the old one. No difference. I have a spare FPR(newer) if you'd like to meet up and get it from me.

I might take you up on that!

Keith already said he'd be happy to tweak the tune. But i want to be sure that external factors aren't the issue before I ask for help from awdtuning.

Gonna see how the next week goes...

Do you have a walbro? I have spare orings if you need also.

But like I said, my walbro on pump sorta does that...just not as bad.

32 degrees this morning...she was a little testy to start. Sigh, was hoping I wouldn't have to go back to pump this early in the fall.
