Hi everyone,

I bought a Subaru a month ago and it didn't come with an original key. So I bought a used key from ebay for the transponder chip and the keyless remote, and an uncut key shell (for a combined price of 34$ I think I got a good deal). I programed the keyless remote after a few tries. I plan to get it cut soon, but still need to figure out how to program the transponder chip. Haven't found anything online yet. Can it be done?

Do you have the ID tags that came with the donor key?

I was under the impression that the tags were required, but maybe the dealer has another way to read the ID from the chip.

BTW, the immobilizer chip has to be done at the dealer, it cannot be done by the owner.

The dealer can get your immobilizer code for you. It cost's a few dollars. They can get it at the same time they program all your keys. You must have all of them programmed at once or else the ones not programmed will no longer work.
