Hello,

I'm installing my Whiteline 22mm adj. rear sway bar and I've run into this problem. It makes contact with the spare tire well. Has anyone else run into this? What was your fix, different bar?

Mine was very close, but not quite touching. I haven't been under the car since the install to check for rubbing though.

Can't tell from the pic, but is yours actually touching now? Is it fully installed (bolted in)?

I have the 20mm adjustable and this was my experience too. There was enough of a gap to slip a piece of paper through but that's about it (maybe the extra 2mm OP has filled that "gap").

Thanks for the replies. It wasn't fully torqued down but it was bolted in enough for me to know that it won't stop it from hitting the spare tire well. It is definitely making contact as it sits there. So if this is typical, will this not cause any issues? It seems to me I would have constant rubbing/banging/clanking noises with it installed this way. Is that not the case?

Rutchard and I both found that ours were seriously close like that. No banging or clanking. I've had it on for a year now or something like that too.

As I am going to do a 20 or 22mm RSB soon this is good to know. Is anyone using a different brand RSB? And are there any issues?

Hmm....Any performance issues with flipping it? I'll have to see but if I flip it, it may hit the exhaust piping.

Are there any further clearance issues I may run into when I put on some RCE springs?

It won't work the same if you flip it over. Also the exhaust will bang into it. The guys at AZP thought it was a better idea to flip it over when they installed my springs. It didn't handle the same and my exhaust(stock) would tap on it entering driveways. Needless to say I flipped it back to they way I had it after I got home from their shop. The clearance is tight but its fine.

hmm I have mine flipped over so the bend goes downward and haven't noticed any problems, I have 2.5i though so only single exhaust. I installed it that way originally.

Now i'm thinking I might flip it over just to see if it handles differently or not. I was also concerned about the clearance and mine is only 20mm.

How about taking a block of wood and a hammer to the spare tire well?

Mine was installed with the hump facing down. My question is why would it function any differently facing up?
