spritefiend
Did you choose to go with the 5EAT, or was it because you couldn't find a 5mt? Do you wish you had a 5mt instead? Did you switch to a 5EAT from a 5mt? Would you go the same route again? Any other thoughts, comments, opinions are welcome. I'm just trying to gain some insight on it! Thanks. blongo804
Did you choose to go with the 5EAT, or was it because you couldn't find a 5mt? Couldn't find a 5mt at the time. Do you wish you had a 5mt instead? Yes. Did you switch to a 5EAT from a 5mt? I'd like to. Would you go the same route again? Only if bought new, and if I was older and sick of driving a MT. (i'm 19) Any other thoughts, comments, opinions are welcome. I'm just trying to gain some insight on it! Thanks. My 5EAT gets me from point A to point B. Does it kill some 5MT fun factor? Yes. Is my life over because it's an auto? Certainly not. I just always have it in manual mode so I do the shifting. Hope this helps. There will be a lot of differing opinions on this topic. fishbone
OP, this is going to be a very personal decision for you. If you come from a long line of MT cars and are set on a MT but are wondering if you can convince yourself into buying an AT, then don't. Just get a MT and don't "settle". I chose an AT because I prefer it for daily driving, don't have to worry about the wife breaking it, drives great, better awd (active vs reactive). Learned to drive on MT and had plenty to get my fill. From now on MT for me is for weekend cars.
spritefiend
Thanks for the input! My first car was mt, and I've been riding motorcycles since years before I had my license so it came pretty naturally! I've only owned one automatic vehicle, and that was my Toyota Tundra I sold to get my LGT. My wife has learned to drive stick, and she loves it so we'd really be fine going either direction. The main reason I'm asking to be honest, is I'm looking for an older Legacy, 99-02 range or so and the majority of them that I'm finding are ALLLL automatic! So I'm not completely opposed to the idea of it, and in fact I think my wife might prefer it sometimes over our mt car when dealing with our newborn son. But, ultimately I would LOVE to get one in a manual; I'm just not sure how likely that is...
JTSBLACKSRT4
I had always drove a stick. I live in Chicago and I decided I wanted something fun, but wasn't a total pain in the ass to drive in traffic.

G5892
It was super hard to find a decent LGT that was manual in my area (excluding the spec b), so I had to go with the auto. I have a hexmods vb which is amazing, but I still want a manny tranny.

blongo804
It modifies the valve body so shifts are quicker and firmer with less slippage, which = less wear.
shadowsports
Did you choose to go with the 5EAT, or was it because you couldn't find a 5mt? I chose an AT, tired of driving sticks after 13yrs. Do you wish you had a 5mt instead? Nope Did you switch to a 5EAT from a 5mt? Yes, 2 VW's both 5 speeds, one was a vr6 Would you go the same route again? Yes Any other thoughts, comments, opinions are welcome. May do an STI next, but love my AT and paddle shifters
