There should be more threads in those nuts. My guess would be something is blocking the top hat of the shock from seating all the way up in the tower.

I wouldn't consider that fine. Also those nuts should be replaced, they're lock nuts and look like they've seen better days.

Actually there is a round metal piece welded below the bar bolt holes. i see it is to support the bolts.

the nuts and bolts looked fine... i didn't see any rust... just dirt and oxidation.

i tried fitting it... but didn't like the way it seated... so took it off... just debating on whether its really worth it.

You can grind those tabs down, but it is a spec b.

Do you normally reuse parts that are dirty and oxidized?

Also, you might want to look up the meaning of oxidized and rust. They are one in the same my friend.
Carry on!

sorry about the rust... i have seen worse on the bottom end... as i said it looks just dirty to me... anyway let me get some new nuts...

i am just going to return/sell it... looks like its not worth the price to put it on.

The nuts are actually supposed to be replaced every time they're removed. I normally just clean them and put a dab of loctite. If the threads look worn (which is what I was referring to), I replace them.
