Hey guys and gals new to the LegacyGT, and need a lil advice and direction!
I am not new to subie just to this car and forum, cars Ive had '03 WRX wagon, '06 STi , '08 EVO X MR , '04 S2000
Now onto the current set-up and please tell me I didnt make a mistake ( from a enthiusiast side ) 2008 Subaru Legacy GT 5eat yes 5eat! The reason I went this way is the wife isnt even close to an avid 5 spd driver and the car is for her as well since she will be driving to Lake Tahoe for work 4 days a week (snow)
Now I know already that I have made the right choice as far as safe and beautiful car I love it already but how is it going to stand up with some mods.
Things im planning
3" divorced dp
full 3" exhaust
Cobb AP
Some sort of coilovers
and a set of 2004 STi BBS for summer
Please any and all feedback is appreciated also was wondering is there anything out there that will allow this tranny to shift harder and more precise as well as not allow it to shift on its own.
Thanks BigRitz

Do you know that with the trans in S mode, if you move the shift lever up or down it puts it into a sort-of-manual mode in which you control the shifting with up and down movements of the shift lever. The gear you're in is displayed on the panel.

forget the AP, get a tune from infamous1 here
forget the STi BBS, they are overpriced and freaking almost 10 years old...most likely close to 100k on the wheels already

That's ridiculous. Show me another set of forged wheels that weigh ~18lbs and can be had for under $1000. I've purchased two sets for significantly less than that price as well.
100k miles on the wheels? Who cares, wheels don't wear out unless you are slamming into curbs, etc.

BBS weigh 15.6 lbs! Only other wheel that compares is the RPF1.
OP - Get a Koni & Epic Engineering setup. Much better than coilovers for the same price, and will probably last a lot longer with snow & salt driving. There is currently a group buy for these springs.
And welcome!

Welcome to the forum! I'm in the same boat as you, it's my wife's car 5EAT, BUT... I went from bone stock to STG3, so It's a rocket compared to stock. There is a member on here(hexmods) that does a Valve body mod and has some center differential mods too, I didn't do that yet, but sounds like the right way to go, he has you-tube video's up to show the shifting difference. Besides, I don't loose boost during shifts!!
Good luck!
Mac

I wouldn't consider either set that I've owned to be "old ass wheels". Compsurge owns one set now (goldies) and I've kept the silvers. My silvers are practically new (lived in a garage for 5+ years). Ask comp if he would classify his goldies as "old ass wheels".
Either way though, to each his own I guess.
