I just "traded" my Legacy for a Lexus.
My experience with this vehicle has been bittersweet. On one hand, I liked the Legacy's spaciousness, it's utility and the drivetrain layout. On the other hand, I couldn't stand that droning CVT and the constant noise coming from the engine at idle. It sounded like there was something loose inside the engine.
I liked the handling only after I upgraded my suspension using springs and front sway bars from a 2013 model. Handling and high speed stability greatly improved.
I liked the cars precise steering.
I liked the car's gas mileage. In moderate weather, I was getting close to 30 mpg. In the heat of the summer, it somehow dropped to 24 mpg, but overall fuel consumption was very good.
I detested the car's reliability issues:
Constantly changing headlights.
Constant thumping noise at low speeds over semi rough road surfaces that in other cars you didn't hear.
Replaced valve body solenoid
Replaced airbag and clockspring
Needed new hubs (down the road)
Needs new AC compressor
Maybe I will own a Subaru down the road, but for now, I am enjoying a quiet respite from the noise and hassles.
I want to thank everyone for responding to my sometimes annoying inquiries. It has been fun to be on this forum.
