Install Write up
Install on the Comp Clutch.
Just finished the recommended break in interval. I will show you the clutch, install and give my initial impression.
Clutch arrived packaged like all other clutched I have received. Nothing fancy, but it does the job. They do include a lot of foam, so there is not going to be any shipping damage.
Product installed is a Segmented Kevlar Clutch. Rated to 500ftlbs AWT. So this should hold the e-85 eating VF-39 build that ate the Exedy Satge1 Clutch and Flywheel.
Everything required is in the package. Clutch Disc, Pressure Plate, Throw-out Bearing, Alignment tool, new Pressure Plate bolts, Flywheel, Bearing for Flywheel.
My initial inspection revealed a very beefy, well built clutch and flywheel.

The 5MT on the lift. This is LALGT's car. Stage1 Exedy Clutch previously installed.
After dropping the tranny, we find a very worn out TOB. It has a nice deep groove going through the center of the surface. Inspection of the snout reveals a clean and undamaged housing. Whew.
The pressure plate is a nice shade of blue. So is the clutch disc and the flywheel. Guess it was hot, dry and slipping.
For the amount of leg pressure it took to engage the clutch and the lack of any feedback it gave, you would have thought it was a monster clutch. All I fond was a burnt up clutch that I zero respect for at this point.
Comparing the Comp Clutch TOB and Exedy TOB side by side I se a huge difference. Comp is sealed, not open like the Exedy. It also has a fabricated bracket, not a bent piece of bar stock. Nice tig welds. The bearing itself is thicker and basically larger. It appears far more heavy duty. Me likes.

New, thicker TOB fits like a champ. No issues installing it.
New Flywheel fits great.
Disc slides right on and alignment tool works perfect.
Pressure plate is on and torqued. Time to slide her all back together and test it out.

Fresh Extra-S in and ready to go.
So, Start her up and all is well. Just moving the car off the lift I immediately notice a huge improvement in pedal feel and engagement. Much lighter and I can actually feel the engagement point and hold it. Moving the car with just the clutch. Could not do that before.
Been driving the car lightly for 4 days now. Seems pedal and engagement are settled in. Still very nice compared to before. Not a lot of change really. Clutch engages a few inches off floor. Not somewhere in the firewall like before. Flywheel does have deceleration chatter. But less than before. Not as offensive, but still there. This I expected. The fact that it is less is nice.
Clutch reminds me a lot of an ACT. Pedal is not as light as a Clutchmaster, but not as heavy as an ACT HD Xtreme. So, much like a standard ACT. Engagement is precise and very immediate (but about 3 inches off floor). Not any slipping this Kevlar clutch. It grabs and goes. Tested in extended LA traffic and pedal is light enough to not fatigue the leg too much. You can up-shift and down-shift by depressing the clutch about 50% with no issues, just like a stock clutch. Deff holds the power.
For the price, I think we have a huge winner.

All models listed are part of the GB.
All clutches are in stock and ready to ship. No waiting.
First 5 buyers get the "free gift". More than 5 are welcome and all get the amazing price.
Everything needed to install is included in the kit (including a new flywheel).
Competition Clutch is not new to the clutch market. They are a major manufacturer of aftermarket performance clutches. Number 1 in 350/370z's. This kit was developed 3 years ago. But Competition Clutch is now making a push into the Subaru market.

I'll have to write a review after more miles but initial impressions:
Stop and go: wow, grabby - I did not realize how had the exedy failed in holding on to the tq of my car.
Launch: only did it a little bit and I think I hurt my neck. Im not kidding.
Highway: HOLY CRAP IS THIS HOW POWERFUL MY CAR IS? I'm pretty sure I have been slipping in 4th and 5th gear for a long time. Maybe even the other gears over 18+psi.
The engagement is going to take some getting used to - its uber grabby in a way I did not imagine with this much power. The pedal feel (vs exedy stage 1) is better. Lighter than the exedy - but not like stock.
I saw things I've not seen in a long time. Boost creep in 5th gear!!! 22psi.
Yeah, gonna need a REALLY big turbo now.

I think flywheel chatter is less than my ACT Streetlite flywheel. I still hear it with the windows down when I drive next to something. But dont hear it in the car with the windows up. Although I admit that the car makes other noises that you get to listen to. Like a cool arse "whoosh" when the BPV vents (30% VTA/70%Recirc).
I did move Merv's old wagon, now Naylors wagon into the drive last night (ACT clutch). Compared to the Comp, equivalent pedal, more slip to engagement, same TOB squeak when you press clutch in, less "grabby" but holds a lot less power.
These clutches are not as light on the foot as the Clutch Master FX300. But... the CM FX300 is only rated to about 350aw/tq. Check out the aw/tq ratings of all the Comp Clutch offerings. Every one is over 450aw/tq.
No deposit necessary. I have the clutch kits In Stock and ready to ship. You can pay direct via PayPal at:
sales@infamousperformance.net
or you can order over the website.
But if you order over the website, I need a PM or email so I know which gift you choose. I will update list. First 5 buyers get a free gift. Everyone else gets an amazing deal on a clutch/flywheel combo.

FLYWHEEL NOTES:
My car has been at so many different power levels with so many different setups now that is a complicated question sleeper. There are things that I really like about it and there are things I don't like about it.
LIKES:
CLUTCH: grags firmly and progressively (I can drag the clutch and drive in bumper to bumper NO PROBLEM!!!). Is easier to go fast and will not slip like my Exedy. I can tell with this clutch, when I drop it I am either going to move or something other than the clutch will fail (at my powerlevel).
LWFW (+pulley in my case) with my WTQ = quick revs. At stage 0 going stage 2 when I tossed in the original lwfw, I thought the car felt quicker.LWFW's less mass makes rev-match shifting much easier. With a DMFW you need to be very close because the more massive FW will take more force to drop or raise to the right rpm upsetting the car. The LWFW makes rev-matching more of a throttle blip which is very nice when entering a turn
DISLIKES:
LWFW: Some audible chatter off throttle around 2k rpm with windows down - not audible over the rumbly purr of my catback with windows up.
LWFW: Less off-the-line "grunt". The DMFW takes more effort to stop it from spinning creating a much greater moment-of-stall before the intertia of the FW is slowed down by the clutch: Its easier to pull away from a stop with zero throttle with a DMFW.
NO CLUTCH DISLIKES.
I did not like my Exedy LWFW. It was too SOMETHING. This has much better feel and while it is still light its not hard to stop-and-go. I will say that the combo of grabby plus LWFW = more challenging launch from a stop but after the Exedy this thing is EASY to slip and drive!!! All things considered I heel-toe and rev-match a lot in my car and I think a LWFW is right for me.
Of note this is NOWHERE near as loud a LWFW as the Exedy Stage 1. I do not hear it with the windows up in cabin over the rumble of my catback but can hear it a little with the windows down, particularly next to a wall to reflect the sound back to me, at very low speed decelerating in gear. Thats a lot of specificity.
