I know there are lots of GT's out there with lots of different exhaust set ups from full systems to axel backs, but there isn't a lot of info for us 3.6R drivers. They guy that runs the service department at my local dealer has one with an Invidia Q300 that he had installed at a shop. They had to do some trimming and rewelding of flanges, but he didn't know how much and where...
After looking at the Magnaflow set up, it slides together versus a hard bolt up connection so it would be easier for me to modify it to fit at my garage. So I ordered up the 16377 from a guy on eBay wholesells them in OEM boxes... listed as a Subaru Legacy Stainless Exhaust 6377 for $645.
Here are some pictures, videos and explaination of what I did.
This is what came in the box:
Climb under the car and unbolt the two screws just infront of the resonator and then work your way back and take the system off the rubber hanger brackets. This is probably easier with two people and a lift but I was too anxious to get this on so I did it myself and it didn't take too much effort.
Here is the old system laying infront of the the new one:
I then pulled all of the rubber hanger "brackets" off the car and put them on the new system and put a little bit of petroleum jelly on them so they would slide on easier.
Then I didn't follow the instructions provided and I hung the mufflers and the y-pipe so I could mark the pipe that replaces the resonator. I marked it for 7 1/2" from the straight end and cut it to fit.
Then I climbed back under the car, fit everything to place loosely so I could adjust the placement of the mufflers/tips. Once things were where I wanted them I started to tighten things up from the front back.
Video/Sound Clip (it is much louder and deeper in real life... I don't have a sound studio in my garage
