I love being different, or having something just a little bit different than the person next to me. My father owns a race team down in North Carolina and we have the ability to do just about anything to a car, granted I can pay for the parts. So laying in bed this morning I got the crazy idea to chop the top of my outback. We do it to alll the late model wagons so why not mine. I think that combined with a radical lowering will make the car a guarenteed one off piece that is sure turn heads. Tell me what you guys think, ill try to photoshop up a picture to see what it'll look like.

I took some measurements of the roof and I would need to lengthen the roof because of the radical pitch on the windshield. It'd be a lot if work but could be worth it if It ends up what I
Imagining

havent really seen a newer model wagon with this style but a good example of the look would be something like this, with much less of a lowering.

That's not really on the same page as a chopped outback.

....yeah not even close, Look what Mike Burroughs did with "Rusty" it's not a wagon but the roof was lengthened and everything was done properly.

i know subaru used 7 layers of high strength steel on the b pillars of the impreza and forester. Maybe also on the outback?? if so it would be hard to cut. iirc firefighters have a hard time getting thru them with the jaws of life.

It wouldn't be anything I'd attempt until next summer regardless. I've tried to edit a photo up of what it might look like but after about an hour of messing with it I realized I'm terrible at it. As for the pillars I would be surprised if the outback didn't have them. There would be many problems with completing something like this I started this thread to get some thoughts about it out there and see what comes back, thanks for all the interest and if anyone is good with photoshop it'd be sweet if you could help create a picture

This was a bad idea, I also think a chopped Outback is a bad idea.
