Sold my WRX wagon in pursuit of a Legacy GT 5MT and today I picked one up. It's a 2005 SWP w/ Limited Black Leather and an 06 STI Swap...unfortunately the car has some engine issues that have yet to be determined but I plan to swap the shortblock and get this back to where it needs to be...

Current Mods:

Engine:
-vf39 (will be replaced...:/)
-Modded Stock Injectors (thinking DW 850cc or bigger for e85 down the road)
-Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
-TGV Deletes
-Godspeed 3" turbo Inlet (May go Perrin)
-Greddy Uppipe
-Invdia Downpipe
-AutoSpeed Catback Exhaust
-Killer B Oil Pickup

Suspension:
-BC BR Coilovers

Brakes:
-StopTech Pads
-Drilled and Slotted Rotors

Drivetrain:
-Kartboy Shifter Linkage
-Kartboy Shifter Bushings
-Kartboy Short Throw Shifter
-Spec Stage 2+ Clutch
-Spec Lightweight Flywheel

Interior:
-6K Interior HID's
-AEM Boost Gauge
-AEM Ugo Wideband

Exterior:
-Cleared Headlights
-6K HID's

I've been putting together a list of what I need to have this back on the road and though I have considered a built shortblock I am thinking I will just buy a new OEM ej257 shortblock and build it from there...the current engine showed signs of metal in the oil so I am going to replace anything that oil touched... I might as well get a new timing belt and water pump while everything is apart as well as every gasket and refreshing the heads...assuming there has not been damage there...

Here are all the pics I have at the moment...there will be a lot more added to this thread as the tear down and reassembly are underway...hoping to borrow a cherry picker and get the engine out over the weekend...tearing into it a bit will let me know where I can afford to go with plans, turbo, etc.

Sorry for the weird cropping...I saved them on the iPhone and it sometimes does that with pictures...I'll fix that once I get the pictures uploaded to photobucket and all that...

Just had a little time today, hoping to pull the engine tomorrow if I can borrow a friends cherry picker...pulled off some of the quick bolt-on stuff...intake, intercooler and broke the turbo loose.

I haven't pulled a subaru engine in over a year now and I actually miss it. I'd help you if I could.

^^ Appreciate the the thought!! I could certainly use the extra hand. I have a few friends who will be helping me sporadically but we'll see how that turns out...

Thus far its been a slow process...

Too, I am finding some random harnesses hanging... :/ Ill be going through every corner of this car twice...

I assume this could be for the rear O2, though I have not looked into it...

^^ Here's another...and a socket that never made it back where it was supposed to go and is now rusted over...

Nice car man. You should redo your mods list to break it up into sections like power, suspension and brakes, exterior, interior ect... I too have a Sti swap and love it. You are also missing some mods in your 1st post such as cleared headlights.

^^Cleaned it up for ya. Lots of plans for this one. Some out of choice and others necessity...lol We'll see where cash is once I'm through with the shortblock swap...that will be the deciding factor.

Ms Cadaver is awful gracious. I don't think she really cares where I spend the money, though I recently sold my 05 WRX wagon to get something a bit more conservative and have the cash freed up by liquidating parts...and here I am talking about built blocks. haha

Also, I'm just seeing lots of little things that were not finished to my liking and those add up as well...

Did your vf39 have any noticeable wastegate cracking? I came across a good deal on one, however it is slightly cracked.

I was told it does have a crack and some play. I'll know for sure once I pull the turbo...hoping to have the engine ready to pull today or tomorrow.

Thanks a lot man! SWP w/ Black Leather was my stipulation for an LGT.

I'm sure I will love the car once I get it back to a functional point...

Tore into it a bit more today...

Apparently this is what minimal shaft play looks like to the previous owner...

Turbine spins but not freely...

Got my garage set-up with plenty I room though...
