So for those of you who remember I busted a piece of ringland off one of my pistons. I've finally come to the conclusion that no im not selling the car, im not putting it back to stock, but im gunna fix her up better than before.
Instead of purchasing a new short block I'm going to rebuild my stock block with better internals. Found a local reputable engine shop (S&K speed) that will hone the bore and match some new cp standard size forged pistons.
Now here is where I need some suggestions...
Infamous performance sells an internal engine package consisting of:
ACL Rod Bearing Set
ACL Main Bearing Set
Eagle Forged Rods
OEM Gasket Set
All of this for just shy of 1,300 bucks. new bearings and the gasket set is a necessity with the rebuild, and the forged pistons is the whole reason for the rebuild. now is it overkill to go with the rods? because at that point i feel like I should be replacing the factory 90,000 mile crankshaft with a fresh nitrated sti crank.
I guess to slim it down my main question is how reliable are the stock rods/crank compared to the play dough pistons?
Trying to be somewhat of a budget build but at the same time keep it reliable with 350whp all day every day.
suggestions? experience? please and thank you
