So I have an 04 legacy 35th anniv edition (5spd M). I'm trying to decide what kind of a muffler I want. I can't decide between a flowmaster super 10, super 44, super 40? Or even a can. I want it to sound like a rumbling Subaru not rice! I can't find anything on YouTube or online for my car, so if anyone out there can help me that would be awesome !

as long as it has unequal length headers, it should have the "boxer rumble." i've seen 3rd gen vids on youtube, you just haven't typed in the right words.

It's not the gt. and I had brought my car to a mechanic and they said they could not do unequal length headers for my car unless it was a 'gt'...

Just try popping off the cans. If you like the sounds have tips and pipes welded to get the exhaust out the back of the car. The resonator and small diameter pipe muffle it plenty.

Still no help except the unequal length headers. I just want to know what kind of muffler to buy. I'm only going to buy one and settle with it. I don't have money to blow to figure out which sounds good or not.

Yes by cans I meant mufflers. I'll try to get some video up. But like all exhaust clips you miss a lot of bass note due to crappy microphones.

Yeah I mean I've searched everything on YouTube for my exact car and I can't find anything that shows they've only replaced the back muffler. I have a buddy up in ME who is part of MainelySubarus and he says I should just get unequal length headers and a super 10. But I would like to at least hear it first. All vids on YouTube are mostly the 2.5 GTs..

Do you know how much it costs to get unequal length headers? My gfs dad is a mechanic so I could get a good price if its not too expensive.

@OP: You DO know that you've got the same engine as a 2.5RS, and that the third gen Legacy GTs also share your same engine -- the EJ25?
My advice? Straight Pipes. If you need a muffler, I suggest a Cherry Bomb. SUPER burbly on the 1st Gen NAs, should have just a bit more deep-throat with your extra displacement.
