Back in the day, the WRX didn't even come with a hood scoop insert, at all! Zero Sports made one. Then, the next generation WRX arrived WITH an insert -- oddly similar to the Zero Sports model! Who says the OEMs have a monopoly on innovation?

The Zero Sports take on the Legacy scoop insert is to bring the splitter vane closer to the front of the scoop opening, to get more air distributed to the under-served front of the intercooler.

Comparison with the stock piece:

so where's the picture of how it looks from the OUTSIDE? Like mounted on a Legacy hood? I presume it comes in this whitish plastic color, not painted?

for close to 300 bucks, some more pics and a temp comparison would be nice. perhaps taking the temp of the front/rear of the ic using the stocker and the new one that directs more air to the front.

It's metal, not plastic. It's not painted. It's silver in color; it looks so bright because I took pictures in the late afternoon sun, next to the black OEM one.

From the outside...you can't really see it. It's hidden back there in the scoop opening. So pictures from the outside would look about the same as stock. Maybe if you were peeking in there with a flashlight...

Although the temp comparisons would be nice, I'm probably not going to go through that amount of research just for a couple of hood inserts. Sorry. I'll see what I can get from Zero Sports.

oh I get it now. sure doesn't look metallic but I know digital pics often don't portray true colors. man, that's a wad of dough for a replacement splitter only. you're going to need some kind of data or temps to demonstrate that its worth the green.
