Just logged back on - busy week. Found some time to do the new install today. Below is a pic of my aftermarket deck with the Metra-8903 kit. It looked fine, but not great. Don't ask about the scratches under the radio - not from this install, but caused by me at some point. A whole other story!
I pulled out the Media Hub and the XM Radio kits - up for the taking as soon as I get posting privileges for classifieds ;-)
I ordered the 8904 kit and it arrived this week. The install was a breeze - cutting the cross bar was quite easy. You can see the bar and where to cut below and a pic of the finished cut. It probably took about 5 minutes with a mini hacksaw, which I bought for about 8 bucks at Canadian Tire. Move the wires out of the way, just in case you get a bit crazy with the saw.
You have to make sure you get as close to the screw holes as possible. The photo with the cut above JUST FITS a standard width of a double-din machine.
In the end, the angled kit looks much better! But REMEMBER...plug the wire harness back into the machine before you put the dash back together. I forgot :-(
Sound is great. Parking Brake Switch installed and ran into the centre console. Video outs to headrest DVD's for the kids. Bluetooth is wonderful, mic pics up very well. Bluetooth streaming is also great.
So...happy with the switch.
Thanks again for contributing to this forum - was very helpful as I was installing things today (I also did my mirrors with the mirror kit today!)
