I have a 2005 Legacy Outback 2.5i and it is kicking out a CEL + Flashing Cruise light + P0719 Code (Torque Converter Brake Switch B Circuit Low). The car drives and shifts just fine and the brake lights function as they should. After looking through the forums, I've replaced the brake light switch twice now; once due to my own troubleshooting and a second time after a Subaru tech suggested it after a $100 diagnostic; he said I might have gotten a bad one :/. I've cleaned all associated terminals and plugs(TCM & BIM) with contact cleaner and inspected and cleaned all chassis grounds. I've also checked the wiring (according to the maintenance manual) from the brake switch, to BIM, to TCM and there are no shorts or opens.
I'm running out of ideas and wondered if any of you might have run into this issue in the past. I found it interesting that given the failure code names the torque converter, yet nothing on the transmission side of the house is even mentioned in the shop manual. I've thought about a complete flush and service of the transmission, but I'd rather put my funding toward the actual issue if possible. Thanks in advance.
