Ok so I've had the Legacy for 2 weeks now and here is a quick wrap up.
I LOVE IT!! THIS IS THE BEST SEDAN I'VE EVER HAD AND CURRENTLY THE BEST FAMILY SEDAN IN THE MARKET!!
Here is a list of cars I've had in the last 10 years, in chronological order.
2010 TSX V6
2011 TL TECH
The only car that comes to the Legacy is actually the 1999 Accord. That particular Accord drives very similar to the Legacy. Great visibility, high speed stability, tight handling, good ergonomics, AND VALUE! are my most important criteria when judging cars. Oh, I haven't even talked about symmetrical AWD yet!
Every time I hop into my Legacy I am astounded by how much more comfortable it is compared to other sedans. Big humongous windshield, low belt line, HUGE door windows, and good dash design leads to an amazing visibility from the driver's seat. The cabin is huge and comfortable with a ceiling that DOES NOT conform to the silly trend of looking like a 4 door couple with useless headroom.
All the buttons and switches are where they should be, easily within the arm's grasp and functions intuitively. Everything just makes sense.
Good human engineering is useless if the vehicle is not a good "machine." But the flat 4 and the CVT gets the job done efficiently. The chasis feels tight during corners and high speed cruising. The driving dynamics of the Legacy is very good for a 4 door sedan. And it has AWD as a bonus
The CVT is actually deceptively quick. It's not a speed demon of course, but under normal throttle applications, I think it "can be" preferable to a stepped automatic. It builds speed quickly and smoothly when driving "normally". Only under full throttle do I wish I had a traditional auto or a DSG.
I like how the trunk and the hood both have struts, little touches that make the car feel like an excellent piece of machinery.
This is my first Subaru and it sure won't be my last one. Subaru is a true gem hidden in the CamCord forest.
