So it took 13 days for me to blow through my first full tank of gas (from dealer) and I was able to log 403 miles with a fill up that yielded 17.4 gallons. I guess that means I had 1 gallon left.
With a daily commute that is probably 65 percent city and 35 percent highway type driving, my overall average was 23.4-24.3 mpg... Kinda disappointed in that but I figure because engine is not broken in yet and that it's winter......
I'm hoping for eventually 26-27 mpg on this same commute

It's winter time. It should get better in warmer weather and with summer blend gas.

My new cars gas mileage was noticeably better on the 3rd tankful (about 1000 miles). Winter gas doesn't help either.

I bought my Legacy in October of last year.. My first few tank fulls of gas I yielded around 29mpg (mostly highway) since they switched to the winter grade gas the best I can do is 24 to 25 mpg..

yeah, don't worry about it! I got mine Nov. 2011 and had a similar commute until June 2012. I managed to have some 22-23 mpg tanks on the winter blend and COLD weather. It will loosen up, this winter has been much better!

Wow, makes me feel better about the 3.6, I get 20-22 and It's been cold so I let the car warm up for 3-5 minutes in the morning and at night. This is based on the computer, I don't have time to write stuff down.

Your car's MPG will get better after it is broken in, provided you will break it in properly.

Damn, I have to stop looking at that current fuel economy gauge that gives you your real time mpg..... I'm always trying to keep it atleast in the center or higher!! Its driving me nuts.....
Think i need to just drive

It will perk up MPG wise. I'd like to think the new FB25 powered 2013+ would be more fuel efficient than the 2012 an under EJ's.
FWIW, my average MPG based on 53 fill-ups is 28.9mpg. 2012 2.5i, CVT.

I have a heavy foot and average 21.9 with a 17 mile one way commute where I'm running 80 mph plus (gotta love Atlanta). On road trips with cruise set 70-75 mph I average 28.8.
Relax and drive. I'll happily spend a couple dollars more to enjoy my car than light foot it for mpg.
