with the old aero load bar (pre aeroblade). Thule fit kit says I need 47" but I can get a good deal on used 43s. Going for flash look anyway. Gutter to gutter seems to be roughly 42 on our cars so it looks like it should fit if I can mount them at the very end of the bar. Please advise. Maybe someone could measure theirs. Thanks much in advance

Funny, I just put my Thule box back in the shed.

IMO no. you can't mount the bars at the end. I'm guessing the bars less the end caps, will make lots of noise.

can you measure distance between mounting points? I know it's going to be very close but I am hoping I can make it work since deal is hard to pass and I would cut longer bars for flash look anyway.
