Are the 2005 and 2006 2.5i SE stereo/manual climate setups IDENTICAL?

I ask because I'm referencing the Subaru 2005 official maintenance guide. Can I follow these EXACT steps (attached 2005AUDIO.pdf)to remove the stock head unit? I have a 2006 2.5i SE Wagon with manual climate controls, single disc player.

Or must I first follow the steps to disconnect the climate control (attached 2005HVAC.pdf)?

Are there any subtle differences in model years? Does the 2006 book look exactly same?
