Used 2.5L built shortblock (04-06 STI / 05-06 LGT). Started life as a brand new stocker only ~12k miles ago. Built at 6k miles. Now at 6k miles since the build. Built by RAW. Contains:
CP forged 99.5 pistons 8.2:1 compression ratio (stock spec) w/Swaintech skirt coatings
Cosworth main and rod bearings
stock STI crank (balanced)
stock STI rods
newer 703 case castings
shimmed 10mm oil pump (new when built, has 6k miles)
Just pulled from the car and disassembled (see pics). Needs refresh. Eats oil at a rate about 1qt / 700-800 miles since day 1. Not sure if caused by improper break-in or improper build. Tune is unlikely the culprit, tuned by reputable Chris of EFI Logics (ran sub-300 whp tune using a VF36 twinscroll setup). Not sure if it takes rehone and new rings to fix it or if it may need bore. Cylinder walls are clean w/cross-hatch visible. The only other issue is that two of the water pump bolts snapped during water pump removal. Need to be drilled out and holes heli-coiled.
Otherwise no problerms whatsover. No piston slap, excessive noises or knocking. Perfect oil pressure. Actually it ran smoothly, quietly (hardly louder than stocker) and reliably. I never let it go down on oil, was watching it like a hawk. I just didn't want to drive an oil burning car, which is not good in the long run. Given my power level I just went with a stock block.
SOLD Asking $1000 OBO. Would rather not ship, but could be arranged.
