After using Plastix with good temporary results, I've decided to try Dvelup's headlight restoration system. I was looking for something more lasting. Its final step is a replacement UV coating. I'm keeping my expectations in check as far as longevity goes. I don't believe any UV coating for poly-carbonate is permanent. If they were permanent, there would not be dozens of headlight restoration systems on the market. Dvelup is the supplier for Sylvanias headlight system. They are probably the same.
This is 3-4 months after using Plastix. The clairity is degrading. Here is a before shot.
Step 1 is to spray the supplied cleaner/prep solution to the lens, wipe off after 10 seconds. This lifted off some brown stuff even after pre-cleaning with glass cleaner. No photo of that. Progressive sanding comes next.
This is after wet sanding with 400 grit.
This is after 800 grit.
This is after 1500 grit.
This is after 3000 grit.
The next step is to polish them using the supplied polish. Here is after polishing.
The next step is to apply more of the supplied cleaner/prep solution used in step 1. A close up image of the fine scratches which remained after this.
The final step is to apply the UV treatment. Here is a close up after the UV solution has been applied. This filled in the fine scratches.
Done. The immediate results are great. I will maintain this post with updated pictures every 4-5 months to see if this product lasts.
