We all know the remote and the car often don't get along and ignore each other.
The other night there was NO way the remote was going to unlock the car so I had to use the Key and the alarm went on and didn't go off until the Remote randomly started working again.
Did Subaru give us a back-up?

Bob - do you think the battery needs to be replaced? The range on my remote has been reducing but no hiccups yet.

My 2008 impreza, you would just turn the ignition on and it would turn off the horns...you seriously have to turn on and off the engine 3 times in the legacy?

Range is great it's just at random times the car won't respond to the key fob. It's a common problem discussed a lot already.
Sometimes it can be related to electrical equipment in the area but I know those areas already.
The key fob worked great an hour later.
Is that trick of putting the fob under your chin to extend the range real or coincidence?

Cycle the key, not turn the engine on.
Turn the key to ON, turn off, turn ON, turn off, turn ON, alarm stops. I don't believe the car will start if the alarm is going off.

It really does work. I do it most of the time when I use the remote start.

I have had someone stand next to my 2008 Legacy and I was in a building, no where near my car and on the cell phone with him and pushed my remote unlock button numerous times and the car unlocked. Heard about that working so I had to try it: story checked out.

This is impossible, well not impossible if the building was close enough that your keyfob signal could still reach the car and if you were elevated inside the building probably a better chance.
But no way the signal from the keyfob was transmitted through a cell phone.

I understand how you could be skeptical, just try it yourself. THis is how I did it (see picture). Car was parked in the lot at the star, I was in the building on the first floor (1.2 million square foot building) with many walls and lots of concrete in the way. called from my cell phone to my coworkers cell phone and after about 10 presses it worked.
The reach of the key fob is about to the edge of the lot to the left side of the lot I am in. There is a breezeway connecting the buildings, one you get inside that and in the main (big) building it won't reach. I was much further than that. You don't have to believe me, that's cool. Just saying I did it and it worked and you are more than welcome to try it out. Note: I did this with a 2008 LGT key fob.

Meh, matters not if its not believed when I tried it myself. I must be tricky and false but that is ok.
