Hood scoop insert/diffuser

I have a new tmic and the diffuser/insert in the stock scoop no longer lines up the way it used to with the stock tmic. My question is... Should the one large "fin" thing that's part of the insert direct some of the air down in front of the tmic or should it split the air going onto the tmic? If that makes any sense. I had to bend that fin down a bit so it wouldn't hit the tmic when I closed the hood but that puts it right in front of the tmic instead of over it. I would have to flatten it out quite a bit to get it out from in front of the ic and be able to still close the hood without it hitting.

Flatten it out. It's there to ensure that air flows over the entire TMIC. Without it, or with it in the "after" configuration, most of the air hits the rear part of the intercooler.

Weird, how the heck did that happen? What TMIC did you get?
