1 full extra quart would probly be the absolute maximum you could overfill and not see anything really bad happen. even then, I would still try to get some out.
Worst case you overfill to the point that the oil hampers movement of the internals and the engine locks up...permanently

That's how much I always fill. Half a quart shouldn't hurt anything, but you might smell it burning off for a while after the oil change...

As I understand it, the main danger with moderate overfilling oil is that cavatation can occur at the sump from aeration by the crank shaft turning the oil into froth wherein it losses its lubribating and cooling ability.
The extra oil won't "burn off".

a little bit of extra oil will burn off...thats why you have a blowby. i just wouldnt put in more than 1/2 qt to a qt more than recommended. you can flood seals and cause them to leak.
aeration can most definately happen, but not with 1/2 a qt too much. thats not enough to allow the crankshaft to hit the oil in the sump
you guys are so paranoid sometimes

It will not "burn off". If you have too much oil to the point where it is to the level of the crankshaft you can (and likely will) destroy the rod bearings and main bearings - but you have to really overfill it to get to that point.

This is where the fumoto valve comes in handy. Just let the car piss a little out.

^ A pcv valve is for gases not liquids. Are you saying that excess oil will be drawn through the pcv valve and into the intake manifold?

Yes, pcv is a vacuum valve.
Why would you put more oil in than it says in the book? Do you prime the filter when you change it too? Thats always a good idea. Always fill it low (but visible on the stick) then check it, add a little, go for a drive, check for leaks, check oil level again and top it off. Cant go wrong.
