Live without or install them later, it shouldn't be a hard install.

You can live without, like most things, in my opinion. But these really make a difference when driving, they are very bright and light up the road (more so than other fogs I've had). In a nutshell, I find them more practical than usual. . . .

I'm about to spend $200 on the Fog Lights for my LGT. I've had a few nights where I felt that the extra low level light would make for a safer back road drive. They are super easy to install, so I hear. If your ok with doing your own install work(car's pre-wired) then dont pay the extra money or list price for the parts for a deal install.
Pegger, Good luck with the purchase

I'm getting them just for the look.
The install looks incredibly easy.

I had my dealer get them and put them in, just negotiate it when you buy the car (I also negotiated aftermarket leather wrap interior).

for those of you doing the install, how do you turn them on? Are they wired to your lights? In the manual it looks like it shows another knob next to your main lights knob on the turn signal?

Part of the installation is to replace the mirror adjustment control with a new one that includes the fog light button. It's not on your turn signal stalk in the 2010 model.
For the most part, the installation is easy. All the connectors are there, just hook it up. You also insert a new relay into your fusebox. Removing the old mirror adjustment control wasn't too bad. Use the new control that came with the kit as a reference to where the 4 clips are on the old one. Use a flat-head screwdriver to depress each clip from the back of the control while gently pushing from the front to release it from the control panel trim.
The tough part is getting the plastic tabs on the fog lamp housing to slide into the grooves of the bumper. At least it was tough for me. I ended up breaking the tabs on both my lamps. Be careful!
One thing I realized after I broke the tabs is that when you try to install the lamp right side up (so that the lamp connector is connected from the bottom of the lamp), there's a piece of plastic behind the upper-right tab (when you're facing the lamp) that I think is preventing the lamp from fitting nicely when I tried to install them. This upper-right tab is where you bolt down the lamp on the righthand side of your car. It would be the upper-left tab on the other side. Turn the lamp upside down so that the lamp connector is connected from the top and I think you will get a better fit. There is no extra plastic behind the upper tabs when the lamp is upside down.
Definitely let me know if you got it to fit right side up!
I'm checking with the merchant to see what can be done about my broken plastic tabs. Hopefully I can get replacements at minimum charge.
Edit: I realized I was talking about the right-hand lamp. It's the opposite for the left-hand lamp. So when I refer to the upper-right/upper-left tabs on the lamp, it's as if you're looking right into lamp as you are installing them. When I say "lamp on the righthand side of the car", it's as if you're driving. Sorry for the confusion!

Yes, it's a control button on the left side of the steering wheel, next to mirror adjustment. They work with the Auto-On headlights, so daylight only DRL's on, when light sensor enables headlights, it get both lights and fogs (if you have them on).

Here's a picture of the switch placement. It's the blank panel to the right of the mirror adjustment

Check this website out. Scroll all the way down to 2010 and you will see Subaru Legacy Fog Lights install. Very simple job probably 30 minutes tops.

good info, thanks all for sharing. I'm not sure why I thought in the manual it said that the fog switch was on the turn signal. I must have misread that.
