Looking for the best type of brakes for my 2010 L Premium, the stock brakes do not seem as tough, so looking to replace all 4 calipers, rotors, and all new pads all around, suggestions on a good system and brand.

Are vented rotors better then solid rotors for these cars?

Good question. What kind of driver are you and what would you like to improve upon? Mileage?

Have you tried better fluid and pads?

Yes, vented rotors are better to dissipate heat. SS brake lines do stiffen the pedal response.

If you really want different calipers, get a set of LGT/3.6R fronts, better pads for the rear, good fluid.

How many miles on your 2010? Subaru warranty for pads and rotors is 3yrs/36Kmi.

If out of warranty, I usually go with the least expensive Carquest or Napa rotors and their premium ceramic pads.

I really want to replace the rotors, and pads to something better, the calipers would be more of a look sort of change, especially if I can get them in another color, however I do not need a performance caliper, they are way too expensive for a non turbo Legacy.

I am not against changing break lines, and fluid, just wondering how much of a difference this would make.

I think the best change I can make is rotors and pads, but which ones?

I decided to stick with the factory 16" rims until I can get my hands on a great pair of Legacy Limited 17" wheel, but so far what I have seen is they all are overpriced and not in great condition. One guy here is selling a set of 4 with brand new tires from a 2012 Limited, he has only 100 miles on them, but at $1,100 to ship from LA to NJ, no way plus the $800 he wants which is fair.

Unless your rotors are worn down, they probably don't need replaced.

More aggressive pads will help. And with a 2010, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bleed your brakes. I like ATE fluid because it comes in blue and amber colors, making DIY brake bleeding easier as the fluid color changes at the bleeder valves.

As for the calipers....G2 caliper paint is a great product, I like black or gray as I think they look clean. Contact doc holiday for some Subaru stickers to put on them.

Sweet, the selection of pads for both models has gotten way better since the last time I checked. Was quite the hunt a while back when I got my Hawks

Yeah, a lot more options now. Hawk was the only option when I got pads. In hindsight I would have gone with the HP+.
