The fitting on the OE radiator that connects the large hose to the turbo overflow tank actually disintegrated and the hose fell off. Thank God I had ordered this radiator a month or so back.
Purchased a GMS radiator from IIR. I paid $195.00 shipped and was happy with the piece when I took it out of the box. Welds could have been prettier but for less the 200.00 I feel it is nice peice so far.
Removed the old unit, I transfered the foam strips to the new unit. It dropped right into the lower radiator support holes and gromets. The brackets on the upper support lined up perfectly.
This radiator is considerably thicker so I had to trim the upper hose back where it attaches to the engine so the fan blades would not contact it. The lower hose fit perfectly. Both fan modules dropped into the mounting brackets and bolted up perfectly.
My car has a FMIC so the thickness of the radiator eliminated the space where my coolant overflow bottle would normally go. I ordered a one quart bottle from Moroso (which I do not have yet, I made a temporary bottle) and will relocate it. The only major flaw is the fitting for the tube that attaches to the turbo overflow tank. The hose is about 13-14mm ID, the fitting on the GMS is only 11 or 12mm. Not a big deal, I slipped a small piece if 11mm ID hose over it then attached the overflow hose.
The capacity of the coolant increased by at least a half gallon, so far so good, Attached are some thumbnails......if anyone wants more pics or info let me know.
