Well my prosport premium series electrical boost gauge and oil pressure came in today!

And I have come to a predicament. Since I have a navigation, that cubby idea is no longer an option. So i decided I am going to try and do something custom.

My goal is to put the boost pressure gauge in the driver side vent and then have the oil pressure gauge mounted on the fuse panel cover that way I can pull it out and put it in whenever I dont want to see it. I like the stealthy look and so I dont really want something that sits on the top of my dash.

Side note: My cousin might introduce me to a guy who makes like a "tiny computer" and is able to control a bunch of different gauges on an lcd screen. Kind of similar to the Magden M1.b. But thats another story.

Right now its all planning. Measurements and so on. I wanna try and get an idea of what it would look like.

So stay tuned!

Anybody think that the heat from the vent will fry the electrics of it? Could I just block off the vent behind it?

What i got so far.

Decided to put in a couple of the fins for now. But right now its temporarily finished. I want to get something to put on the side of the vent to fill the little gap and make a cleaner look. But my original intent was to cut a circle in the fins but if i did that, they would be hanging and wouldnt be flush and tight. So this will have to do for now.

Not bad for a free pod huh?

This weekend ill try and do the oil pressure one on the fuse panel

This would look better if you don't want to go with a cubby pod, and you can get a double pod as well:

Its also $115 for a damn pod. It would cost more than my gauges!
Ehhh yea i guess it would look cleaner. But i did it myself so i take pride in it and think its not too too bad for a free pod. Andd i can always get another vent for like $12 at the dealership

I did a really similar install in my 03 Volvo S40. Instead of taking all the fins out, I used a Dremel to cut them so the gauge fit perfectly in. I always respect the custom/stock looking installs. Just keeps the cars looking clean and less of a reason for a smashed window...

Yea I took the idea from my cousins volvo s60r ! But the fins go horizontally and are snapped in place on both sides of the vent.. so if you cut the fins in the middle, they will droop down on both sides. So i would need to super glue them to the gauge.

That is my final goal to put the fins surrounding it. But for now it will be like that until I can perfect it.

Very slick. Is that stock in the S60R? I was toying around with the idea of an S60R or an Acura TL-Type S before I bought the Leggy GT. I need AWD in Wisconsin (no TL-S...) and I just didn't want to deal with the repair cost of a European car again. S60R could have been a cool car, especially because it's a little larger backseat (car seats in the back of the Leggy are a PITA and the passenger usually has their knees against the dash).

Thanks for the link, I'm happy with the Leggy. A buddy of mine is a mechanic that specializes in Japanese cars, so I think I made the right choice, since I pay wholesale for parts and pizza/Stella Artois for labor!

Just cut the fins and glue them to the gauge, if you need to take it out like you said the vent is $12 at the dealership. Much cleaner look IMO

Well at least you didn't go the pillar route. I get so tired of seeing ugly pillars.

Hopefully you'll still get a little air out of that vent when you're done. Personally I'd stash the vent somewhere and make your own louvered mount compared to what the last poster mentioned.
