Hi from Africa. I have a 2002 Legacy GL Wagon. It is the right hand drive model which according to the spares catologue,is the same as the Australian model. The motor is an EJ20,normally aspirated,5 speed manual box. I have recently purchased an almost new 2007,2.5 STI motor with all essentials,ECU loom, radiator, intercooler etc.. I also have a 6 speed box (non electronic),prop shaft and complete rear end from a 2004 WRX STI,bigger diameter drive shafts etc..I also scooped the Brembo callipers off the 2007 model. O.K by now you probably have gathered where I’m goin with this….Anybody out there ever attempted this full STI conversion to a 2002 Legacy Wagon before???? If so ANY info on this would be muchly appreciated out here in darkest Africa. By looking at the rear suspention layouts, methinks this is going to be one of the biggest challenges, any tips on this anyone ?The rear end is the first to tackle, then apparently the front cross member from the 2004 Turbo Legacy GTB will fit my model ? Any truth in that? The standard c/member won’t allow the exhaust to get back to the turbo. A WRX member might fit with a bit of ‘slotting’ to the mounting holes but i would rather have the real thing. If the GTB part will fit I need to import this from Japan, quite an expensive exercise from here let me tell you, therefore really need info on this before I decide to import. Most you guy’s have it so easy out there in the States and Ausi, just walk in to your local go fast store and get what you need,Damn. Look forward to hearing from you. Sawubona.
