Dave (ClimberD) specifically states to NOT
reset the TCU after this mod.
some notes from my HexMods VB learning:
on startup, when going from P to D is rough (especially first start up in the morning), let the car idle for your preferred time (mine is 10-20 sec to get things moving) and then blip the throttle. my RPM on first start of the car sitting for a long time tend to idle high (1500ish) and causes harsh P>D transition. If I blip the throttle they drop to sub-1000 RPM and the engagement is much softer
I still get funny shifts from 3-4 in the 3k-4k RPM range, depending on load requested. from researching, I think this is tune related (requested boost at part throttle) and not VB related. It just let me to be conscious to how i'm on the throttle during mild acceleration shifting. it mainly happens in 3-4 shift
I can't be on the pedal (steady, not accelerating) and downshift into 3rd, it kind of bangs. I used to be able to, but I think the increased pressure causes some hiccup. however if i'm off the pedal and downshift it is quick and smooth, and it locks up the torque converter quick and is ready to apply power.
full WOT shifts are incredible with this mod. the gear snaps right over, no delay felt. running 2>3>4 has such a good feel. my tuner said it also made it easier to tune high RPM because normal 5EAT operation has odd behavior.
