A guy at work had this 2005 Limited that I have done a bunch of work on over the past 4 years. In early February he was on his way to work and the radiator blew out, so he took it over to the Subaru dealership.
They wanted $600 to do the radiator. $600 just to start the timing belt job(180k on the car, and timing belt was never changed), one tire had a bubble in the sidewall, so they wanted $700 for tires, $45 for oil change, the rear springs were sagged out, and there were a few other small thing.
With a huge bill, he decided to buy a Honda, and salvage out the Subaru -- when he told me his plans I offered him $1,000 and he took it.
In the last year, the car has had all the following installed: new CV shafts, new turbo, filters removed from banjo bolts, new KYBs, and new wheel bearings.
What I have done since I bought it:
Timing belt, H2O pump, pulleys
Rotella oil change
18x8 +45 Enkei RSF5s
225/40/18 GT Radials
On the way:
Cat back and up-pipe
Yesterday I got out the orbital, went over the entire car with rubbing compound, then did a three step process from Turtle Wax for black cars.
Here is when I first got it:
