06 Legacy GT stock airbox

So I just got my drop in K&N filter I have been doing a lot of research and know that the factory air box is good to keep even with stage 2 tuning. My question is does anyone know what is this canister is on the bottom of my air box that is zip tied on and do I need to keep it on? All feedback would be great thank you.

That's your silencer, its used to quite the noise down. Most remove it to get more noise. Try searching on here there's a few good threads on this topic.
