Cone_Killer
The factory silver pieces were scratched and faded. The door handles were gouged and peeling so I dipped them. Far better than before and not too shabby. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m219/born2race94/2012-08-09_19-07-22_240.jpg http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m219/born2race94/2012-08-09_19-11-47_68.jpg
compsurge
Looks pretty good! Did you prep the handles at all? I was thinking about doing this as well.
Cone_Killer
I did. I just peeled off what I could and scrapped the rest off with a razor blade.

Rhitter
Reviving an old thread because I'm interested in doing this too! Is sanding necessary? Did you use the black color? He used black. You don't need to sand. Plasti-dip is nice because if you **** up you just peel it off and start over. Think of it as a temporary removable solution and just go for it. After the first 2 light coats make sure to put it on thick enough so it's easy to remove. My OBXT build

There are lots of little things that need refreshening in my car. I think I'm going to start plastidipping ALL THE THINGS! Not really. Steering wheel, center console, trim pieces, and door handles. Then grille, and all the plastic trim on the outside. Then wheels. This should be fun!

This is nice - https://www.dipyourcar.com/Dip-Coat/ It gets rid of some of the tackiness / makes the color slightly shiny. I have used it on my wheels / trim that's dipped and it works well. BoyceWare
Yeah I love this stuff. I fiberglassed a gauge pod to my A Pillar earlier in the month and used plasti dip as the final coat. Final results came out great. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/diy-pillar-gauge-pod-walkthrough-238100.html http://i62.tinypic.com/2ivxi74.jpg

ZMedicZ
Hey guys. I just wanted to share my experience with plasti-dip. I spoke to the owner of a local body shop, who suggested the following steps. -Clean with warm soapy water -Clean with a surface cleaner (He suggested prep-all, which I got at Advanced) -Lightly buff surface with a fine grit sandpaper (I used 200 grit sponges, also from Advanced -Start with a light dusting. You are giving the paint a layer to grip onto. Let it dry. -Nice even coats, letting dry for a good while between coats. I think I did 3 or 4 Looks great. xtea
Did my door grip like the OP, silver console trim pieces, the cup holder frame cover, and my rims. I am not good at doing plasti-dip. I had to redo some of the trim pieces a couple times because of running or texture developing. I finally have a decent outcome, but it's just decent not perfect. It looks the same in pictures as what you see here already. The door grip came out the best. I was tempted to do the silver plastic around the door grip, but since that would require taping off the car I don't think I will attempt it given that my output might not look as nice as I'd like it. Wheelbuilder_25
How has this been holding up on the interior ? I've done my grill, but it doesn't see contact. (and won't, I hope)
