GTEASER
How and where are you guys mounting the V3 in your GTs???? I am looking for the best, cleanest location for mounting so that things don't look cluttered when the V3 is packed away in the case and not on display. I will likely leave it plugged in and on the mount often so I would prefer to have it mounted in a location below easy line of sight should someone with ill intent take a quick look into the car when its parked. Pics of the location from the driver's line of sight as well as the mounting would be helpful. Thanks guys!!!! cww516
I just printed out a newer version of my vent clip that has a reinforcing screw through the center, it's sitting in my cupholder waiting to be installed. It hooks into the little defroster vent above the main vent to the left of the wheel. The wire just hangs straight down and comes up under the dash by the OBDII port, although I'm sure an enterprising individual could route it off to the side and through the fuse block side panel thing between the door and the dash. It's pretty nondescript when you pull the AP off, but it's not exactly obscured from passers-by. The original looked like crap (only have one fan on the print head, so the non-cooled side got all blobby) and eventually snapped due to me pulling on it. The new one fixes most of those issues, and if I had the capability to print ABS, it'd probably solve the problem with the mounting clips sagging over time. Not a huge problem to me, since I can just run off more clips.

Zee199969
Does this rattle around or jiggle or anything when hitting bumps or driving on rough pavement? It took me a few minutes to find the sweet spot, but it's in there pretty snug My "Build"

I think I am going to pull out the vent and try to ziptie the teeth from the mount from the inside of the vent. They open to easily for me. foxrider28
http://www.walmart.com/ip/magicMOUNT-Dash-Mount/37551986 I use this to mount my phone when driving. It's stuck to the square in between the seat heater switches and the mount does not come lose actually it's probably gonna take an act of God if not replacing the plastic "tray" to remove if I ever do, but we'll worth the $14. They have a ton of different styles even ones for your vents. Also once you put the steel plate on your device and let it set for 24-48 hours it's pretty much there forever, whatever 3M adhesive they are using is insane. However it is magnetic so I don't know if that would interfere with the AP any but it doesn't affect my S5 at all.
cww516
Well, the AP mounts to its clip with magnets (although I forget if they're in the AP or the cradle), so you're probably safe on that front.
islandborn
Amazon.com: Car Seat Bolt Floor Gooseneck Mount for COBB Tuning AccessPORT V3: GPS & Navigation my favorite way to mount it That's pretty much what I have done to it. I actually put my iphone6 in there normally. But when running the AP, its the same. I run the big cord along my door jam, under the seat and up next to the mount. I use: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EHQMZ6K/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687722&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B004M8ST3Q&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1THAYTRVE1S09CXHXDH1]Amazon.com: Arkon Smartphone and Midsize Tablet Car Seat Rail Mount for iPhone 6S 6 Plus iPhone 6S 6 5 5S Samsung Galaxy Note 5 4 S6 S5: Cell Phones & Accessories[/ame] Stays rock solid as I have it against the side at my right hand knee. I actually have gotten a "c" clamp to really lock it down by attaching it to the center consol wall. Ill take a pic with it here soon for you. ChrisCrash
I got one of these for the air vent and its pretty solid unless I hit it with my hands getting in and out fo the car. Otherwise it stays put and doesnt get in the way of my driving. I wrapped the cable around the steering column and that never gets in my way either but you can always wrap it up under the dash. amidroc
This was the original method See this thread http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5125899&postcount=17043 I modified it. I no longer use the vent clips. They plastic vents were getting deformed in the hot California sun. The mount on the back is a ball and socket design. I repurposed and old garmin navigation unit suction cup. The AP has a metal back so it just sticks to the magnetic mount. This is the mount from best buy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/bracketron-earth-elements-universal-vent-mount-black/7502155.p?id=1219276502656&skuId=7502155 here's the line of sight. it's up and out of the way. no longer blocking the defrost or drivers vent. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/amidroc/2010%20Legacy%20GT%20Premium/20160223_143426_zpsxiksrvl8.jpg bracket mounted to the window with garmin suction cup http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/amidroc/2010%20Legacy%20GT%20Premium/20160223_143440_zpsjegtgj6g.jpg http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/amidroc/2010%20Legacy%20GT%20Premium/20160223_143446_zpsmylxts3f.jpg bracket showing back of mount and garmin suction cup http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/amidroc/2010%20Legacy%20GT%20Premium/20160223_143457_zpstpguvcua.jpg Unfortunately I have to leave my LGT parked on the street in front of my house at night. To prevent any ill willers, I remove my AP when parked. I leave the cable lying over the steering column. I stach it in the arm rest top compartment. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/amidroc/2010%20Legacy%20GT%20Premium/20160223_143618_zpsznrybnsz.jpg
amidroc
I forgot to add that I can still use the mount as a cell phone mount in another car. Just undo the suction and transfer....easy peasy!! Now that i think about it it may get in the way of the boost pod on the left side of the dash hood in the TEASER!!
GTEASER
Yep, plus I want to mount it lower, not in the windshield. GTEASER's 2012 Legacy GT - Sold GTEASER's 2009 XTeaser - Sold GTEASER's 1992 Legacy SS - Sold
Ellesedil
Right now, I mount my AP in my glovebox. So, this thread is great.
BBPeik
I mounted mine over next to the dash cubby. I do not need it in my direct line of site and I just keep it angled toward me. I just used the included mount with good 3m double stick and it works great. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20160223_164231_zps0qvljrit.jpg My someday I will be done with it thread. FLlegacy
I tried that^^, the first time the temps hit 95 ish it came right off and my ap was on the floor. Sadly the glue is still stuck to the radio bezel... It would be awesome if the screen could be flipped to horizontal and then mount it right on top of the steering wheel so you can look at the gauges that really matter lol. BBPeik
Mine has never come off and the temps get well over 100 here all the time. I used the 3m that you use for exterior emblems on cars. I pulled it off one time to mount it a bit different and the tape came right off the dash, with a little persuasion. My someday I will be done with it thread. Zee199969
Florida heat is something else...even suction mounts don't stay for long. Heat + humidity will do most adhesives in down in the gulf area. This is why I opted to not use the 3m sticky mount and go with a clip type mount My "Build"
